Mirror, Mirror

December 9, 2009

I’ve been thinking lately that people in my life are a mirror for me. What I see in them is what is within me.

Here are a few examples.

  • There’s a man I’ve dated on and off for a couple of years. His lack of commitment in relationships has always bothered me. Over the last few months, it’s finally dawned on me, I’m attracting him because he’s mirroring MY lack of commitment in relationships.
  • Someone I work with frustrates me with her aggressive style. She’s making me aware of my own aggression.
  • I also have a friend who is nurturing and loving. She brings out my loving side.

Everyone in my life is a gift for awareness, if I choose to accept it. Instead of focusing on what the other person is doing to me, I am making an effort to shift my focus on what I can learn about myself.

My teachers are all around me…if I allow myself to listen.
