Embracing the Space Between

I’m a speaker, and every good speaker knows that effective use of pauses can emphasize the points we want to make. That time of no sound can speak louder than words. It’s the same with music. Music without pauses would just be noise. It’s the space in between that defines our lives.

I’ve been pondering the space between lately. Not so much with speaking or music, but with life. Maybe you’re like me and feel like you’re caught in between two worlds. It’s the world of time in waiting. My book draft is completed, and I wait for it to become a physical product. I still work at the same job that I have for the past seven years, and I wait for my writing and speaking career to blossom.

My waiting is no different than a pregnant woman waiting for her baby to come into the world or a construction crew building a new structure. These things take time.

Patience has not been my virtue, but I’m learning to relax in this state between. The pause has allowed me the time to discard the unnecessary encumbrances of my old life to make room for something new. I’ve had to learn a new way of being where I’m working toward this new life I’m creating but relaxing in the beautiful life I’m already living.

Today, I will embrace the space between. I’ll consider it the place where all possibilities can become manifest. I’ll let go knowing that the universe knows the perfect timing. All I need do is accept the life I have as I ease into the life I’m creating.
