In the late 1950s as a young girl, Jane Congdon met Count Dracula in the film Horror of Dracula. She was bitten as surely as if Dracula had sprung from the screen and chosen her.

Four decades later, Jane finally took her long-awaited trip to Transylvania to see the mythical land of Dracula. She never dreamt that the adventure would unearth decades-buried memories of life with an alcoholic mother.

Jane’s book It Started with Dracula: The Count, My Mother, and Me chronicles her adventures of discovery and dark secrets dragged into the light.
