Oh, What the Heck! Go for It Anyway!

December 8, 2010

This week I’ve been listening to motivational CDs by Big Money Speaker, James Malinchak. One of the stories he told was how he attended a seminar led by Jack Canfield, creator of “Chicken Soup for the Soul” books, that completely changed his life. In particular, there is a new mantra that he uses because of Jack. “Oh, what the heck! Go for it anyway!”

This idea is so profound! How many times do we stop ourselves from going for it because we think we’re going to look stupid, greedy, nagging, arrogant, pushy, or some other negative quality. The truth is that taking action is the only way we are going to get from here to there! Oh, sure. We can think that if we have a positive attitude and visualize our success that life will magically transform.

That’s a lie. We need positivity, visualization AND action to make forward progress. And here’s the best part of it that James shared: If we take action and receive a no, it doesn’t matter anyway! We weren’t going to have anything happen by sitting around doing nothing. At least by taking action, we have a 50/50 shot of something good happening.

Starting now, I’m committed to taking action, not matter how uncomfortable and silly I feel. Will you join James Malinchak, Jack Canfield and me in this new mantra? “Oh, what the heck! Go for it anyway!”
